China's Got Talent

I developed a "talent" as a child that has proved to be very useful here in Nanjing. I can stop myself from smelling without touching my nose. With all of the smells I try to avoid, it has become something of a habit. I thought it was a normal thing until I asked Mister one night and found out he can't do it. Can you?

While amazing, my talent has nothing on these:
A man practicing calligraphy. He uses a bucket of water and practices, practices, practices.
fancy!

Rickshaw drivers--you have to have super strength to pull one of these all day!
The rickshaws were decorated for the holiday.

We could hear this music all around the Confucius Temple. It put everyone in the Chinese Holiday mood!

Miss A's talent is drawing a crowd--seriously this big.

Candy making--This man takes a small ball of the sugar and shapes and blows it to look like little animals.

Making sugar animals!
You would spin to get an animal. Then, this man would make it freehand! It took seconds to make--he was so practiced.

This man used different voices and percussion to tell stories while a child looked inside. Crowds stopped to listen in on his stories.

Love from China!

  2. I haven't been able to get a very good answer out of anyone about what the holiday is exactly. :) It's kind of like China's independence day...but a week long. It was fun, and crazy how many people were out and about!
